I dunno if u want to listen to me, my HS record was a 11.1 :sadbron:

For weights, you start with simple azz Squats / Deadlifts / Bench and add some Olympic Lifts like Power Cleans, Snatch, etc. You don't need no bodybuilding shyt for speed. just make sure u hittin your legs hard

As for running routines, do something like 8x20m, 6x40m, 4x60, 2x80, 1x100.... maybe too much volume so google that. Remember, better to be safe and heal up and miss 1 day then get too hyped, get hurt and miss 3 months

word. 11.1 is a good ass time, i ran a 12.0 in high school but i didn't really train that much for sprinting only what we did at basketball training

i kinda want to keep my bodybuilding shyt going for now, i know that them sprinters would probably squat some crazy assed weights tho

with that running routine, thats the same sort of shyt i seen on google, if i was doing 8x20 tho, how much rest would i have between each set

There are too many training things to put into one thread. There's the weight resistance training factor. There's proper warm-ups. There's speed drills. There's start drills. Stretching and warm-down. And of course, there's sprint training. Weight resistance training will give you the strength to get your body moving. The thing with sprint training is that it's a mix of getting strength up, which activates slow twitch muscle fibers, and there sprint training, which activates fast twitch muscle fibers that will get you going faster. You train towards a goal. So your spend less time lifting and more time sprinting as you get closer to a competition.

Go to youtube.com and look up 100m and 200m races. Olympics or world competition. You'll see that the first guy out after 15 meters is rarely the winner. Kind of a weird body mechanic phenomenon, once you've reached your fastest speed while sprinting, you slow down. Notice how often Usain Bolt catches up to pass other runners rather than lead the entire race.

Some states have an Olympics-type competition annually in the summer, State Games. You can compete with others in your age range. This is a competitive environment but fun. So if you lose and come in last, it won't be a deal breaker of any kind.

When sprinting, you supposed to take 1min rest between sprints. nothing more nothing less..

And basically do what the poster under you said... dropped a lot of knowledge

My best was around 10.7-10.8 in track

What helped me get there was:

1) plyos, single leg jump etc.
2) Squats and step ups in the ~3-4 rep range
3) sprinting more and working on coming out of the blocks

I think I could have gone even faster, but I half assed my lifting and nutrition back then and didn't apply myself 100%

My best time was a wind aided 10.58 in HS. On average i ran 10.7

My 40 yard dash was a 4.4

Currently i prolly can run the 100 in 11 something

Work on hip drive on your start and leg turnover around the 40-50 meter mark. You train your start by doing them over and over focusing on arm drive and keeping your waist/hips low for 10-12 meters.. Leg turnover is developed by running progressive sprints.. Start off slow and speed up to another level every 10 yards or so
