Spinoff: Good TV/movie cops

Malik Yoba, Michael DeLorenzo and Lauren Velez have all mentioned how many blacks and Latinos come up to them to this day and tell them that New York Undercover (a CRIMINALLY underrated show) inspired them to become cops. If you didn't catch NYU's Unsung, it's a good one.

I can't talk about good cops w/o mentioning Claudette Wyms from The Shield. The way she punked Vic Mackey in the Shield finale is a thing of beauty. "You can go now."

And how can we not talk about The Wire? If I had to pick just one (which would kill me - can I have two?), I'd pick the Bunk. But second place is definitely Lester Freamon.

I think New Jack City doesn't get its due. It's the predecessor to New York Undercover, and it gave us a son of characters/references that became iconic: Nino Brown, Pookie and CMB, "five-dollar ass" right off the top of my head. And it also gave us this iconic Martin moment.



*edit* Interesting! Martin Lawrence was the original Pookie; he dropped out when his mentor Robin Harris died. No wonder that Martin scene is so funny.

I haven't watched NY Undercover since I was a kid, wish they was a way to watch it in current day.
