After looking at Seoul Gleou's thread about those that do not have a inner voice: The majority of humanity doesn't have an internal dialogue/monologue (aka voice in their head), i remembered that there are a few people that do not have the ability to mentally visualize what they have experienced. That includes not being able to imagine their family, friends, home or even the path they walked 5 minutes ago. The condition is called Aphantasia:

When the Mind’s Eye Is Blind

I can see images and have memories but they are hazy and it is very hard if not impossible to imagine something i never seen before. I know people that can see images/memories in their mind vividly and that i thought they were lying or just exaggerating, but that is not the case.

I wonder what happens if they are given drugs that primarily cause visual imagery. Something like Lsd or mushrooms. Would their brains just reject it? :ld:
If the imagery is purely what you see, i am not sure about that. What is scary is that in the news story i posted a man that could see mental images normally stopped being able to after surgery, possibly having a stroke during it.

I can't actively create a scene but recalling memories is free game. Think of it like the difference of conjuring a pool table with different colors and having a hazy recollection of your standard pool table

I thought having a dream journal would help, but apparently the part if the brain having to do with hypnagogic imagery is different than the part dealing with aphantasia.

I think I’m one of these people. A while back it was a post saying some people don’t have a voice in their head or see certain shyt. How do y’all sleep.

When you recall a memory is it clear or is it hazy? Mine is hazy to very hazy with no color.

Hazy. Not really as vivid as it is when I'm ready to go to sleep or after waking up.

Colors are okay but shapes are more shifty.

Like if you told me to imagine an orange ball, I'd immediately associate that with a basketball. The shape of the lines might wobble but the basic shape and grip wouod be mostly there. Not a sharp image though.

Im a certified shaman my brother and shrooms do not primarily cause visual imagery. Any type of visual imagery or visual hallucination is not even guaranteed to happen. Everyone will react to them differently and no trip is identical. There can be auditory things happening, mental things, realizations, etc… as well as things happening in the body. Visual imagery is just one of the effects that can happen

LSD is a synthetic chemical and man made. I can’t speak on that

Tbh, I couldn't even describe my own face much less family or friends. If I concentrate on a picture ive taken or seen of myself or them, then its much easier to see a visual in my minds eye.

Hynagogic dreams or vivid dreams are even more solid. It's almost funny how some of those cliche drug dreams scenes in movies are accurate for the most part.

I can't imagine having this condition.

Does anyone else subconsciously "imagine" subtitles/text when they speak?
