This is in reaction to the thread about the normal time for an individual to be making 100k. What a stupid thread. :scusthov:

A few of the idiots in the the thread were basing their aspirations off of competing with what the next man supposedly earns. (most people do not disclose what they truly make or what they truly owe)

People who are this materialistic are usually compensating with the insecurity of growing up broke, or have the self esteem of a 23 year old woman where they need broke people constantly harping on their material possessions to feel like they in reality aren't pieces of shyt.

Yall remind me of the cliche where truly rich people walk around bummy while you insecure nikkas walk around wearing more labels than dj kay slay on some "look at meeeee" bullshyt. You guys are fakkits.

more money doesn't make u happier. it just seems like these guys think that money = everything. maybe to them but i know dudes raking in 80K per year, (i don't know anyone making more that isn't an actor even still i don't think she makes that much anymore) and he is as socially awkward as u can be and mad as hell for some reason.

I see it as the more money you have the more you have to do to keep it coming hence more problems.

I am not quite clear on exactly what it is that these people desire from me.

However, it seems as if the more money I come around, the more problem I seem to see.

Actually studies show that more money does make you happier but its only up until a certain amount of money (well before being a millionaire tho, about 75k) and after that it tails off.

For household income, 73 percent of those earning above $75,000 per year were happy, vs. only 59 percent for those under $50,000. It's perhaps not surprising that money brings happiness to some extent, but the survey found that $75,000 is the "magic point": Beyond that, greater incomes do not seem to bring greater happiness, Parent said. Similarly, below $50,000, people were consistently less happy.

I think it seems that way because the people who make money make it seem that way by constantly showing off their material goods, when really I think they buy these things in excess to fill a void.

And those that may not have the material goods chase the money, giving less attention to personal relationships which inturn creates the same void SOME of the rich people are trying to fill. Almost like an endless cycle.

When you chase money and abandon virtue you will never be happy. Good relationships and sustenance seems like the best balance.

I always appreciated those rich folks who, indeed, were paid but looking at them, you'd never think it. While the broke spent ridiculous amounts in an effort to "look" rich. Bass ackwards if you ask me. Mafukkas like Zuckerberg or Johnny Depp or David Chapelle, I look at them as regular dudes who feel that flaunting one's wealth is stupid. I ain't rich by any means but I am comfortable and sometimes dress bummy or less opulent because "Who the fukk am I trying to impress?" Plus, I find it amusing to go to stores and the various levels of shade being thrown simply because of the absence of conspicuous labels on my clothing.

All that "money is evil" and "money doesn't buy happiness" is something wealthy people told poor people to keep you complacent with being poor. I agree as far as the "flashiness" shyt though. People with money don't need to brag about it.
