Since some people were answering a different quesiton.

Heres the situation: Each of these crews want to take over the drug trade somewhere on the east coast. They each are determined to have it and will go to war for it through any means (shooting, plotting, political favors, convincing the other crew to link up, etc.). Who gets the real estate and customers?

Season 1 Barksdale crew is my answer.

Avon had so many connections, hitters, lieutenants etc. He literally didn't have to do shyt. Plus Stringer had his head in the game still.

Marlo was too young. He got a lot of help from Prop Joe. A lot of things had to go Marlo's way for him to survive that Avon war.

I wouldn't classify Mitch, Rico and Ace as a crew. They were friends that did business together.

Barksdale really, they allowed Marlo to get strong right under their nose, but Marlos crew is up there for having two sheer sociopathic killers, the wire never let us know how bad Marlo was truly but he must have been a demon to have those two under him.

Neither Barksdale nor Stanfield could never take it to the Greeks the way CMB took it to the Eyetalians.



If you had to rank it:
1. CMB - The video above explains everything. And they have a fukking boardroom.
2. Barksdale - They were just about to wipe Marlo's crew off the face of the Earth before they got snitched on. Avon controls shyt even in prison
3. Marlo - Chris and Snoop.
4. Sopranos - Only above Mitch because they have numbers. Also got cops on payroll.
5. Mitch/Rico/Ace - Their crew is too small. They're more into getting money and probably had more than Soprano's crew (not the whole mob). Rico saves them from being last.
6. Tony Montana - Tony is pretty smart before he starts using the coke. He has a lot of weapons, but not enough men. They're not savage enough either. Tony doesn't go around shooting randoms. Think about it. He's one of the few people on this list who you can bump into and probably get away with just saying sorry. Guys like Marlo, Rico, Tony Soprano will hurt regular civilians just because they felt offended in some way.

Avon had Wee-Bey, Byrd, Stinkum, and Slim Charles.

Byrd in jail because he was a fukking junkie who couldn’t throw his gun away. Stink was slow and got caught slipping in the first half of season one. Slim Charles actually didn’t do shyt but constantly got his personal killed or locked up.
Soprano crew had cops on the payroll and patience.
Montana is the easy choice because he made more money than any of them and wouldn’t bother with a street crew like Marlo.
