Different sports require different skillsets.
Just like baseball requires more skill than American football.

It takes more skills than IQ. Soccer is not a sport where you need to have a thorough understanding like other sports. As long as you are talented, you'll be very good. As far football(American), you need to have a sharp understanding of it. QBs have some of the hardest jobs in sports along with NBA point guards. As far as skills, it's up there. Mostly the forward position though.

there are different types of skills

it doesnt take necessarily *more* skills. it takes *different* skills...and also less reliance on athleticism.

its far far less common for a player who has bad skills to be playing soccer due to his excellent athleticism, as opposed to some other sports.
