SPIN: How hard were these G-Unit and Dipset tapes moving back in 2002?!

In 02, if it wasn't an album nikkas were either bumping the latest G-Unit or Dipset tape. In retrospect, its crazy how both movements were flooding the streets at the same time. I was leaning more towards the Unit at the time but you can't deny the classics Cam and the Dips were putting out. And mind you, all of this was a year prior to the albums dropping in 03 (GRODT and DI) In my opinion, this was the last time NY had a real stronghold in the Hip Hop game. Great time period in Hip Hop, especially NY Hip Hop!

mixtapes use to be lke excercise back in the days now they seemed forced with fake overated hype. i gotta send my condolences to dblock as well in those days. man back then mtv couldnt even keep up with who was hot. my favorite g unit freestyle ever was prob the debut of yayo and banks
