While many have praised WWE's "women's revolution" in the past three or so years, I've begun to think that it's actually led to less diversity for their female champions than in the worst part of the "Diva" era. During the era that everyone now vilifies, we actually had title reigns from AJ Lee, Eve Torres, Layla, Melina, Alicia Fox and The Bellas. While Vince still had his blonde preference going on, I remember all of those girls I listed having mic time, screen time
In comparison to today, we've only had lacklustre reigns from Naomi, Sasha, and Bayley while Nia's connections didn't even help her get past two PPVs.Instead of embracing diversity it seems that WWE has double down on pushing blondes more so than they did even before the revolution. With Lacey Evans getting called up and Vince being high on Mandy Rose, it looks like non-white female wrestlers will have fewer opportunities than they already have.
With all that said, do you think the women's revolution has actually helped non-white women's wrestlers?
