I knew someone from my hometown who attended the same college as I did and he broke the school's bench press record for his weight class. He was in the 135 lbs class and he benched in then 300s. That's almost triple his weight. But, he was a skinny guy from the waist on down and had nothing to do with deadlift and squats.
There are guys who can do more than double their weight in squat and deadlift but can't come close to double their weight in bench press.

i went to a different location than the one i normally go to last night. was waiting on some dbs to do rows so i politely asked this dude who was using them to bench if could work in w him while he was resting. got the expected attitude like i was so majorly interrupting his workout. dude stood up to respond to me like that was suppoed to intimidate me. he actually looked like his toothpick legs were about the crack underneath his oversized upper body. he was literally there benching dbs for about an hour straight. i wonder how often he squats/dls?

lol, besides here i don't even talk to people about workouts, stats, etc in real life. i go to the gym 3 times a week and once i put on my headphones i get in a bubble. barely socialize at the gym, only give a head nod to the regulars out of politeness, barely check out the chicks. i won't even front, i used to check how much other people were lifting and comparing to myself. but i notice that since i stopped caring i've actually progressed more cause i have better focus.

i just hate being at the gym locker room and hearing grown men talking about the next dude's physique and criticizing them, accuse them of roiding behind their back, etc. hoeish behavior.

Exactly.

That's why I hit the gym early as fukk. I don't have to worry about any bytchassness lurking. Seems like people who go after work (not everyone) bullshyt around and be talking, and dikking around. I'm there to work, and get the fukk out.

lol listening to yall makes me realize how many folks probably hate me

in my apartment gym there is only one barbell, and my whole routine is barbells so im constantly coming in forcing my way in on their sets

i learned along time ago if i dont say shyt, nikkas will do bench, incline, decline and then skullcrushers before they ever leave the bench

at the end of the day, youre gonna be able to handle more weight on a bar than a dumbbell :manny:

but at high weights relative your size, its easily possible to develop strength imbalances(more common with people who dont OH Press/Row etc)
