Southern University makes history with largest class of Black male nurses in nursing program
BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern University's School of Nursing marked a milestone with the largest class of Black male nurses in the university's history, according to WBRZ.
The cohort made history with 33 students enrolled. This week they were recognized for their "dedication, commitment to healthcare, and the positive representation of men in the nursing profession," school officials said in an Instagram post.
“The diversity of males in healthcare is very important for us. So to be a part of something like this is legendary for us,” student James Rodgers told our partners.
The university's nursing school also received a $339,000 grant in additional funding from the American Nursing Foundation, WBRZ reported.
