South Orange police are investigating the carjacking of a Land Rover Sunday night.
A South Orange man was carjacked as he pulled up to his house Sunday evening, police said.
The man was exiting his 2014 Land Rover at his Kilburn Place home when three people wearing masks arrived in a silver Jeep Cherokee. At least one of the robbers showed a handgun and demanded the man hand over his property and the vehicle, according to South Orange police.
He complied and the three fled in the Land Rover and the Jeep, police said
South Orange police offered no description of the suspects, which took place at about 6:45 p.m. They also didn't specify the model of Land Rover. A message seeking additional information was left with South Orange police.
The South Orange incident came about 2 hours and 15 minutes before a Hoboken man was fatally shot during a carjacking in a parking deck at the Short Hills Mall.
A 2012 Range Rover was taken during the mall carjacking in which Dustin Friedland, 30, of Hoboken was killed. The vehicle was recovered Monday morning in Newark. No arrests have been made.
