I guess they had machetes and allegedly fire shots at the police.

It still shouldn't have happened and it wouldn't have if they were being paid properly. I can only imagine what they live on.

it wouldnt have happended if they were white. There is little to no media coverage on this event. Reinc00n i hope u get everything u deserve in this lifetime.

Also, none of the news articles ive read specifically mentions the wages they pay these people. This is the only thing ive found that even gives you an idea of the peanuts they were being paid

""Government doesn't take this seriously, they take sides. We stay in shacks with no electricity and no running water," said Edward Zolisa Bedlani, 32 years old, who was at the protest on the hill and has worked at Lonmin since 2002. He said police had forced the group onto the hill after management hadn't met with them."

the next excerpt makes it clear how seriously this company (Lonmin) took these workers

"Lonmin said it plans to issue an ultimatum to striking workers to return to work or face dismissal. It didn't provide details. "Our priority is to work with the police and arrest the delinquents," said Barnard Mokwena, Lonmin's executive vice president for human capital and external affairs."

they refer to them as deliquents because they say that striking is illegal.

Miners fired first try brought it on themselves

apparently the miners killed some cops as well as some other miners who attempted to go to work. Furthermore they repeatedly stated that they not leave unless they were killed so in the end they got what they wanted. What ever happened to just leaving a job that you dont enjoy working in?
