I'm a firm believer that there's no such thing as clutch or choking. Not really.
Players will perform to their career averages in the postseason, given enough sample size --- though to be clear, you would expect a little bit of a dip in the numbers for the postseason since you tend to face better pitching.
That said, Aaron Judge has 212 postseason plate appearances in his career. If this was the regular season, he'd be around May 19th. And nobody would be freaking out over his talent or anything. I understand you dont have that luxury in the playoffs but I'm trying to put things into context.
Yes it sucks that Judge isn't getting hits.
But Chisholm is 2 for 12
Wells is 2 for 12
Torres is 1 for 10
This is a team that can't hit consistently.
And that's Brian Cashman's fault. Because he built this team.
So all that we can do (and what Cashman is praying for) is that the power numbers make up for the lack of base hits.
