Dr. Ben Carson, the conservatives’ anti-Obama, has inked a deal with Fox News and will now be contributing to the cable network on a more regular basis, reports Mediaite.com.

As previously reported by NewsOne, Dr. Carson became a GOP darling after challenging President Barack Obama‘s healthcare policy while he sat mere feet away at the National Prayer Breakfast. He also made headlines when he withdrew from delivering the commencement address at John Hopkin’s University, citing negative media attention following anti-gay remarks he made during an interview with FOX’s Sean Hannity.

In making the announcement, Fox chief Roger Ailes said: “Dr. Carson is a brilliant neurosurgeon who has dedicated his life to healing others. He also has a broad perspective on what’s going on in the country and his wisdom and provocative viewpoints will make a major contribution to our network.”
Carson retired in June from his post as the director of pediatric surgery at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center — a position he held for 39 years. He has also been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom (in 2008), as well as more than 60 honorary doctorate degrees.
