Sony Online Entertainment has announced that they have partnered with game developer Acony, to bring gamers a new free-to-play shooter that mimics Arnold Schwarzenegger's classic action film, The Running Man.
The game is set in the near future where contestants perform in a arena games (ala Unreal Tournament) but the goal isn't just to kill as many and as quickly as possible, it's also to do it with style. You can catch a glimpse of the combat in the video below.
The game was formerly known as Hedone.tv, but with Sony stepping into the picture the game has received a new, more generic, mainstream name. Bullet Run sounds like a typical F2P shooter, but I'm pretty sure the publishing team felt that a more simple name would carry more mainstream appeal to it, hence the abandonment of Hedone.
Anyways, the game seems to combine a bit of Smash TV with APB: Reloaded, enabling gamers to rise to fame while also individualizing their avatars to create a unique identity.
The upcoming free-to-play title is still undergoing beta testing and with a more mainstream name it will probably be likely that it sees slightly more success than if it had launched under the Hedone pseudonym. You can learn more about the game by paying a visit to the Official Website.
