Sonnen says new female UFC star Rousey can beat 'Rampage'

onda Rousey isn’t just the first woman to join the UFC. According to trash-talking virtuoso Chael Sonnen, she can also beat a former UFC light heavyweight champion.

Sonnen told TMZ that Rousey joining the top MMA organization means, “Mitt Romney has a new favorite fighter and [Quinton] ‘Rampage’ Jackson has another opponent he can’t beat.”

Ouch.

Sonnen and Jackson have sparred verbally for months though the two are not close to hooking up in the Octagon. Sonnen meets Jon Jones in a light heavyweight title fight April 27 in Newark, while Jackson has been pegged to face upcoming contender Glover Teixeira in January on FOX.

Jackson has gone on record saying he “can’t stand” Sonnen and turned down an offer from the UFC to coach against him on “The Ultimate Fighter.”

That would have led to a fight between the two.

"I don't want to fight Chael,” Jackson told MMAFighting.com last month. “He's the kind of fighter that I don't want to fight. He's a boring fighter that just wants to hump people."

Sonnen is very calculating in his crap talk, though, so he could be angling for his next big feud following the Jones fight. It’s the same thing he did after losing to middleweight champion Anderson Silva twice, transitioning to make Jones the butt of his jokes.

Jackson has said his fight against Teixeira will be his last in the UFC, but “Rampage” says a lot of things. Sonnen and Jackson are two of the bigger draws in the company and a fight would make both a ton of money.

As for Rousey, the statement that she could beat Jackson is ridiculous and ludicrous, which fits in perfectly with many of the things Sonnen says.

And the Romney quip? Who knows. But UFC president Dana White is probably looking through binders full of women to potentially sign to his organization, which just added female fighters.
