You already know...
Lotta people didn't understand the appeal of Clue tapes because he was one of the first DJs who started moving away from doing mixes and moreso just dropping new music. But that nikka stayed with the newest hot shyt, months before it was hot... name some joints you heard first on a Clue tape...
"Hypnotize" and "Mo Money Mo Problems" on Show Me The Money Pt. 1... like just three weeks before BIG got killed... on that same tape, also debuted "Who Ya Wit" by Jay-Z
The first "Benjamins" by Puffy & The LOX... matter fact, first time I heard the LOX was on Clue too, w/ the freestyles and with Biggie on "You'll See"
"Can't Knock The Hustle" remix, AND "Get Me Home" by Foxy, AND "Can't Hold Me Down" by Puffy & Mase, AND "Can't Stop the Reign" by Shaq & BIG... and that was just on the first side of a tape he dropped in late-96
"Hard Knock Life" when it was just one verse... knew it was gonna be a hit but had no idea HOW big it would be.
"Get At Me Dog"... not the song version, but the one with X and The Lox that was a freestyle. And on the same tape, heard Canibus for the first time on the Cappadonna beat, KILLIN'.
"Bad Boyz" by Shyne... I had my doubts about Shyne, but that joint pretty much changed things.
"Made You Look" There was some other songs that went on to be hits on that same one... I can't remember what they were tho'... all I know is that fukkin' "Made You Look"... I musta ran that shyt back about 5 times.
"In Da Club" by 50... and this was another one I had no idea would be a major hit... I don't even think Clue felt it all that tough... shyt was damn near at the end of the CD, like some random joint that wasn't hot enough to be at the beginning...
There's a lot more... a LOT more... but those are the ones that stick out most when I think of Clue tapes. Add on...
