Whenever I'm reading some of these posts, whether it be on this forum or another, it's usually one of these things or the other:

"YAY! ROCKY'S HERE TO SAVE US, AND BURY THAT OVERRATED VANILLA MIDGET INDY fakkit PHIL!":blessed:

or

"MAN, I HOPE DA GAWD, CM PUNK, KICKS DWAYNE'S CANDY ASS AND SEND HIS HACK HASBEEN ASS BACK TO HOLLYWOOD!" :steviej:

Is it wrong to give credit to one, WITHOUT discrediting the other? Now, look, I'm a Rocky mark, I'll admit it. I've been cheering this dude since I was 5 years old, so seeing him compete in this day and age of WWE, and quite possibly becoming WWE Champion again makes me happy, and brings back warm nostalgic memories.:to::wow:

However, at the same time, I MUST also acknowledge, appreciate, and RESPECT, the tremendous reign that CM Punk has had. You don't just give someone a long title reign such as this for the fukk of it. And Rock has paid attention to what Punk has done, in some ways carrying this company on his back during this reign, and that's why that (according to dem dirtsheets) he wanted Punk to keep the belt on him leading into Royal Rumble, making the significance of this match much more important. That's what's up, Rock.:youngsabo::myman:

So, again, if you're a fan of Rock, or a fan of Punk, that's fine, don't be ashamed of it, but don't do it at the behest of the other, as both guys are tremendous athletes, performers, and will both go down as All-Time Greats when things are said and done.

Just sayin'. :yeshrug:

That's why I like dissing everyone, it's more fun that way. :troll: :stylin:

True, there is a time and place for fun, but I think that the hate and extremity of it on both has gotten just a tad bit excessive, that's all.

I already want to see this a lot more than I wanted to see Rock vs White Rock in Jean Shorts so both guys did their jobs well.

4 out of 5 times a diss goes down, it's usually in the name of comedy, #fukkery or entertainment. I doubt anyone TRULY believes one or the other deserves no credit, even if they take a legit issue with Rock or Punk at this stage.

Sometimes, you just gotta beef constructively to go about your life peacefully :yeshrug:

alot of the people here on TSC have been sick of punk's reign in general, way before rock was in the picture though there's tons of threads dating back months about how the reign has been underwhelming

Well, I think one reason why it was underwhelming was because Punk was in very few PPV main events, which of course went to CENA. :snoop:

Its the best from my childhood vs the best currently :yeshrug:

Pretty sure most posters dissing either guy already had an issue with them. I think only Erik felt the need to declare war in the name of kayfabe and a mancrush, but we know why that is.

I'm pretty neutral at this point. I was :stylin: for Team Bring It due to my childhood but I can't help but respect what Punk has put in and how he's served Rock. But I can't just shyt on Rock cause him just being there makes it a big moment.

14 months and that's the excuse now?

Well, since his heel turn, he's been getting a few more main events, which I and I'm sure many others felt he deserved, and I feel it brings a new layer to his character which I found interesting and intriguing. Some folks just don't like it, so I can't change their opinion; whatever floats their boat. :manny: :yeshrug:

CM Punk would not have had the belt this long had the Rock never came back. Period. It's just a fact. There's no way Cena would be out of the picture this long barring a life or death injury.

If not for me, CM Punk would of never got credit to begin with at this place. I'm the one that enlightened everyone about him just like I did with Kharma and Melissa. Dudes were shytting on him heavy during his run on ECW and backing up Edge and Morrison during all of those promos they had in the ring. They clowned him nonstop when he got the World title and Batista kept laying him out like a jobber champion. They ONLY got on his bandwagon when they started listening to what he said in 2009 during the heel turn on Jeff Hardy. shyt was I was saying since day one.

I'm not denying that part. In fact I even stated that in the OP.

And for all the dudes that trashed Punk, hey, like I said, everyone's got an opinion. As for me, I've been a Punk fan ever since I first saw him on ECW. His look and gimmick intrigued me, and his ability in the ring cemented me as a fan. I was so :krs: for him when he won the WHC in 08, and I felt :scusthov: when WWE bytched him out and made him lose the belt without even fukking fighting for it in the ring. So trust me when I say that I have enjoyed CM Punk's reign thoroughly.
