He approached my cousin and i, gave us some advice on what we should do/focus on... Said trying to get a big chest and big arms lifting big wieghts is not really a good idea, not beneficial.... that ya its what looks good in our society but to focus on eating good (most important) and to stretch and run... i chopped it up with him for a minute and kept it moving.

im really thinking of just putting the wieghts down brehs.

All depends on ya body type breh

People always trying cookie cutter shyt...

If you're naturally lanky, so can lift, just work on getting more ripped than bulky. Bulk won't do ya bone structure to good if you're lanky

:leostare: because lifting automatically means you only do bench and curls.

What gym you going to? The gym I go to has a bunch of old people that give bad advice all the time.

Depends.
What are your fitness goals? Weight lifting is a non-impact exercise. Running is high-impact. Three-times your body weight is put on your hip, leg, knee, ankles, and foot for every step.

Yeah, I was about to quote the OP and highlight the word "run" with the :mjlol:smilie

I mean, if dude was talking about doing HIIT then cool but aint no way I'm ever gonna put my body through the long-term torture of extended running sessions. Incline walking or the mountain climber machine >>>>>>>>>>> running. Heart rate monitor is the best gift you can give yourself for cardio because you can monitor your body and adjust the incline to reach any cardio goal you want to.

I'm not saying running is bad. I'm just saying, there's health ramifications to running just like there is for weight lifting.
I would have told the old man I just weight lift to check out booty at the gym.
