Man crushed to death when elevator in NYC building suddenly falls
Horrifying video obtained by The Post shows the moment a Manhattan man is crushed under the weight of his luxury high-rise’s malfunctioning elevator and dragged to his death into the darkness of the shaft below.
Immediately after one man exited the elevator into the lobby of Third Avenue’s “Manhattan Promenade” building around 8:15 a.m., Sam Waisbren tried to follow — but the lift abruptly gave way, harrowing video obtained by The Post shows.
With five others still inside the elevator, Waisbren, 30, was fatally dragged along the wall between the elevator and the shaft, authorities said.

Waisbren was pronounced dead at the scene, and the FDNY was able to rescue those still trapped on the elevator.
City Department of Buildings inspectors were on scene Thursday examining the killer elevator.
One second you’re living next second your dead and your body is sliding down the wall into a building basement.

Elevator death is one of the few ways of dying that I fear.
Man, I didn’t even think to be careful of escalators tbh.
