real talk I never understood parents/family who buy a 4 yr old gripes of presents, I mean children that age have a short attention span and the simplest things will keep their attention

one of my cousin has already spent $400 or so dollars on xmas presents for her 4 yr old son. The funny thing she buys him all these toys yet he still plays with the plastic megablocks that were given to him when he was like 1 1/2. He plays with those blocks for hours, and for the most part shows no love to the other toys

I know for a fact that my kids don't need a bunch of toys, and they probably won't play with them past Easter, but I'm still gone buy them a bunch of shyt. It's Christmas they're good kids and they deserve it:manny:

Pretty much.

Plus you either want to recreate the positive experiences you had wih Christmas, or make sure they ha e better ones than you did.

Watching your kids excitedly ripping open gifts on xmas morning is a top thing.

I made that mistake with my son, he was my first born of course. I would spend $300 on toys and this little nikka would be playing with a broken chair leg all X-mas day :comeon:

My Daughter two and she is the same, for her birthday my wife bought her this dope dollhouse and I just got her Dora Microphone and she walks around with that mircophone everyday.

We gonna get her a bunch small, cheaper toys this year that way its no big loss when she doesn't play with them.

I'm not mad at them for spending that much, but its not needed for the kids to have a good X-mas.

Let people do them. Dropping $400 isn't that much depending on what you're buying. Plus if you see they haven't even looked at something, re-gift it later in the year as a bday gift or something just because.

Sorry you feel that way :manny:

My parents weren't rich, but by 4 I definitely had 20+ gifts. Between clothes, toys, bikes, books, arts and crafts stuff, jewelry (kid stuff) I was :smugdraper: If/when I have kids, they will probably have the same. Even if its more for me to see their excitement vs practicality.

Its called psychological marketing and its been working for over 50 years now.....

Shouts out to Ed Bernay..

Best present I gave my 3 year old niece on Xmas was an empty refrigerator box...

She turned it into a townhome with a chair and everything..

She hid out in that bytch whenever she didn't want to be bothered...

It lasted for about a year until she outgrew it
