So who was really the KING of the wire? Avon or the Greeks?

I ask this cuz most would say Avon, but after thinking for a while, using the chess anology, if Slim Charles was the pawn who made it to the other side, then he became Queen, but he still working under the greeks. In that case wouldn't it make Greeks the king and not Avon?

the fact that the 'greeks' were trafficing vehicles, drugs, women, arms, anything that needed to travel via sea...makes them not even on the same register as Avon barksdale.

The Greeks were one of the most interesting portrayal of suppliers I've seen. Usually the supplier is portrayed as someone who's main business is supplying drugs to a bunch of Avon's (like Lobos in Power). The Greeks, however, were mostly just smugglers. Drugs may have been the most lucrative part of their business, but it wasn't their main focus. They were far more hands on with the girls and stolen goods.

Man, I wish they would've went more in depth on the Greeks. They had a FBI agent across the country helping them...just how big was their operation?

Hence why Season 2 is my favorite of all 5 years 'cause everything really is connected.. When Marlo gets squeezed out by the cops he still had to come thru Avon & that Russian cat which means he gotta deal with Spiros and The Greek no matter what

I like this. Another way you can look at it is that the Greeks were the king and everyone in Bmore were just pawns. Some of them just made it to the other side(Kingpins) Thats why its more than one kingpin throughout the series but only one Greeks, who never gets caught.
