The DVD is good shyt because the bonuses aren't the usual bonuses... sure they coulda put Austin vs Rock for the 10th time and Taker/Mankind HIAC for the 1th time, but they got a lot of random RAW/Smackdown main events and matches. Ain't mad at it.

But the doc is the draw IMO... and I fukked with it. It's kinda funny seein' how some of these dudes are older now, sayin' even they wouldn't let their kids watch what they were doin' back then. :gladbron: It also kinda puts in perspective how/why it's not still going on tho'. Attitude Era reflected everything that was popular in that era of the late-90s... pop culture in general is different as all hell nowadays. It's kinda like how on the '21 Jump Street' movie, homie goes back to high school thinkin' it's cool to wear one backpack strap and make fun of gay people and nerds... then he finds out everybody's double strapped and tolerant 'nshyt. I gotta admit tho', it would be fun to see something like that come back around someday... it probably will when the kids of the PG Era get older tho'- that's the way WWE'll be able to keep longtime fans.

Sidenote: Chyna is REALLY on the outs with WWE. There's an outside and inside cover, and damn near EVERYBODY from that era is pictured except for her. MIDEON is on this shyt and she ain't... :russ: TONY GAREA is on this shyt and she ain't :heh: I damn near expected to see Benoit on it and no Chyna... wow.

Wrestling lost it's popularity because it didn't progress from that era. It went soft and got PG without thrilling storytelling to make that work like it did in the 80s. Those guys are idiots talking about not letting their kids watch it....they're kids watch and do MUCH, MUCH worse without them knowing about it. It's the old goofy "violent video games made them shoot at school" mindset. Silly.

Oh shyt... just realized somethin'...

references to 'WWF' and no blurring!

:gladbron: I'm so used to the editing and blurring, I didn't even notice it until damn near the end, HA!

The attitude era was a once in a lifetime thing that will never happen again. The late 90's was the rise of attitude not only in wrestling but in life in general. This current generation is way to soft to handle anything like the attitude era.

Having legit competition breathing heavily down their neck certainly influenced them to take the gloves off.

Ain't no way they're ever going beyond cruise control unless legit comp comes a long, or ratings tank to rock bottom levels.

Eh, wrestling blew up in the late-90s, because there was a confluence of a lot societal elements and variables. Our society was becoming more coarse, in large part because our president was caught nuttin' on an intern and lying about it. Our economy was crackin', the internet was a new phenomenon changing the world ( wrestling benefitted more than anything in its early days. The net peeled back the curtain on wrestling, adding tremendous interest and connected fans into an IWC community)...etc.

Wrestling will always have its core base, but to expand on that there has to be some sort of society wide shock or set of cultural/economic conditions that aid in wrestlings popularity.

Its the reason why comedies and dramas come and go. People just move on, and become disinterested. People move on from wrestling outside of its loyal base. Got to give the WWE credit for remaining profitable, and successful, even during down times and recessions. Lord knows nobody else can claim that.
