:salute: to the coli for giving combat sports there own forum. Alright, this thread is to not kick Anderson when he is down, but I always wanted to know, who do you guys believe is the real "MMA GOAT"?
Here are both notable opponents they have beaten:
Anderson Silva:
Hayato Sakurai, Carlos Newton, Rich Franklin (2X), Dan Henderson, Nate Marquardt, Forrest Griffin, Demian Maia, Chael Sonnen (2X), Vitor Belfort, and Yushin Okami

Fedor Emelianenko:
Heath Herring, Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira (2X), Mark Coleman (2X), Kevin Randleman, Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipović, Tim Sylvia, and Andrei Arlovski

I don't have no issues at all if anyone picks either, but who do you think is the "real" MMA GOAT?

Fedor faced tougher comp IMHO, but Anderson Silva was far ahead of the competition it was at times unfair.

I'll say Fedor if for anything else when you consider he was a very small heavyweight and still giving all the heavyweights that work.

Not accusing TS but it's really sad to see the revisionist bullshyt rear it's head. Glad there's perspective on the Coli.

Fedor was definitely the best from about 2001-2006 but he stopped fighting elite competition on a regular basis after beating Mirko Cro Cop. His wins over Nog, Mirko and maybe for the time Heath Herring stand out but he fought a lot of weak competition between those fights and the fights immediately after Mirko were complete jokes (Zuluzinho, HMC). Silva's run had some gimmes (Leites, Cote, Bonnar) but he fought and defeated several top 10 guys consistently (his run from Chael 1 to Chael 2) and won big fights even at an advanced age.

He beat Dan Henderson who beat Fedor despite the size advantage too.

Silva is the GOAT.

That's definitely something commendable and takes a lot of balls but heavyweights were smaller back then and certainly all the best heavyweights were around his size. Zuluzinho and Semmy Schillt were no good in MMA.

I think the speed advantage from being smaller helped him in a lot of these fights, he got caught by Henderson who is much smaller. Compare that to how he looked against a lumbering Brett Rogers.

I stopped watching UFC before most people even got into UFC... Seriously, im 26 on the 12th of this month, I was watching from ages 14-18

and yall putting Tim Sylvia up there for a notable win? Unless he some how improved a lot after I stopped watching he used to get boo'd as champion because he was so fukking bad and at the time there was no competition in his weight class... but now he is a notable win to someone who is supposed to be a "GOAT" ??? :stopitslime:

I stopped watching during UFC fighter competition on Spike TV the 2nd season, they had the deaf guy fight the winner of the season in the winners home city (london or some shyt) and the deaf guy whooped his ass, but it was land slide win by decision for the home town fighter (I think it was the first major UFC over seas) :pacspit:

If ima watch some shyt that I think might be fixed even just a lil bit ima at least watch boxing :pachaha:

There's great and there's amazing...

Bill Russell was GREAT and some would argue that he's the greatest save for the fact that Jordan was AMAZING. :mjpls:
