it's not just a username and account, you need to have a channel as well. before you could just have the option of adding videos and having a channel but now you have to establish one before you comment...

by channel, do you mean that you had to have uploaded some videos before?

I always figured you automatically had a "channel" when you had an account. As in, if you favourite some videos or whatever, they end up displayed on said channel, etc. Even if they're the only things you add.
