before it was '97-99.
then it was from '97 to wrestlemania 17(2001).
now its '97 thru the entire year of 2001 and possibly beyond?

going thru the lineup of "classics on demand". the theme for this month is the attitude era.

they have the match(s) where jericho unified the titles at vengeance '01(december 2001) up there, and they added numerous invasion era matches to the stone cold section on the slick.

:wow:

Personally I consider that era to be from the first time the phrase was used (Survivor Series 97) till the Pandas came and crushed the buildings in 2002.

But I guess it's different for everyone and the E has never made it official.

It's kinda weird, all the major players from Attitude era were still through 2001. And they didn't using the "Ruthless Aggresion" moniker until 2002.

When did the PG era start though? I'd say around 2007. But before that they were still doing live sex shows, HLA and Torrie Wilson was making out with bytches. What do we call 2001-2006?

vince started yelling "attitude era" in january/february '97 when they gave raw a makeover. people talking about "it started in '96" are just making stuff up.

then after '99, the product became different. and they werent even pushing the term "attitude" anymore.

i remember for years, fans considered the era to be '97-99. then suddenly, newer fans came in talking about "it ended at mania 17".

now the era is allegedly ending at mania 18 now?

The Attitude Era was from: When Goldust first showed up and tried to molest Razor Ramon to when the first brand split happened.

I don't know man. You still had the Godwinns and Hillbilly Jim squaredancing and shyt around that time. I'd say it started when they put the Titantron up and changed the whole theme to Raw Is War when the Hart Foundation VS Austin started poppin off.

The start sure as hell wasn't when Goldust came along. He was a controversial standout in an era that was way more PG than anything they're doing now. Even when Austin started up in '96, there was still a bunch of goofy shyt going on. When the look of the shows changed, and the content got to where Bret started disagreeing with it cause it wasn't a family program anymore, that's where Attitude started. Post-Mania 13, I'd say. Mid-'97.

Far as the end, it's not too off to put the Invasion in there. I'd say they had gotten out of the over-the-top Attitude stuff by then, but the same players were there and the stuff on TV hadn't been completely "cleaned up" at all.

Attitude started when Austin changed the landscape with his antics after King of the Ring 96..Bret is apart of the genesis too with his crys of being screwed by management. They were fukking kayfabe lime. It ended at WM 17. The Invasion wasnt Attitude..it was just a lazy crossover that didnt live up to potential because Sting/Goldberg/Hogan/Hall/Nash kept their money and did what they wanted.
