So my S3 has to be rooted in order to use Ps3 controller :mindblown:

I'm trying to figure out how to use my ps3 controller with my Galaxy S3. I found some app that allows you to do that, but your phone as to be rooted.

Is that the only option that I have?

If you're talking about Sixaxis Controller app then you have to root.

I've seen them work without root on tablets with a usb port but I'm not sure about phones.

nikka I looked at that. If you read the disclaimer () you'd see that it says you need that Sixaxis app to use the joint. To use the Sixaxis App, your phone needs to be rooted.

That is the purpose of this thread

It usually doesnt void your warranty as long as they dont see a different rom on it. Rooting just gives you user privileges that were reserved for the system. Its quite painless to do so with an S3.

xda developers.com is the best source to find out about rooting.

Be prepared to spend many nights reconfiguring you phone and manipulating your phone to get it right however. Welcome to the world of Android...


P.s. The Microsoft Surface Tablet supports the XBOX 360 controller out of the box. But again, that is Windows RT. Maybe next time...

When I went to the website it said something about rooting. Let me check again.

Edit: That's for wireless. No root for WIRED play
