ray liotta? :what: you say that like that muthafukka is actually a good actor. he got lucky with goodfellas. he ain't have much room to fail with that screeplay and with scorsese directin' the movie

a nikka tryin' to see j.lo's fine ass :steviej:

Agree to disagree.

He's proven himself in everything he's been in.

But, by no means am I complaining about seeing Jennifer Lopez in MILF action.

Now if you're that desperate to jerk off, there has to be something better than an NBC show. There's better faked Jennifer Lopez pics online.

But if you're talking about acting, she's about Pamela Anderson's level of talent.

If you think he just was bestowed the role of Henry Hill, you don't know the behind the scenes of that movie.

meh, outside of goodfellas, he's never had another role i can think of that really stood out to me :patrice:

as for j.lo., she can't act and i'd say she a notch up from pam anderson but you not that far ahead either :lolbron: however it's always nice to see her pretty face :wow:

back to liotta. i think he did great in goodfellas. everythin' about that movie is perfect. i wouldn't change a thing, i'm just sayin' outside of that movie i can't think of another memorable role he's had since :manny:

That's because the part is so iconic.

J lo trash

actin' wise, yeah. she's never been a great actress, but looks wise, she still fine as fukk :banderas:

right, which is why i say past that, i can't think of anythin' else he's done that's been great. i think he lucked up with that role. i mean, obviously he didn't fukk it up but it just went to show you that almost any decent actor could've done that part because the screenplay for that role was so well written

mickey rourke is one of my favorite actors and has done a number of shytty movies (he got more shytty ones that he do great ones); however, in a number of them he's still be able to remind the audience he's a talented in actor, even if the movie itself was horrible

That's funny because I get in arguments about defending Mickey Rourke. I've seen everything the man has done. And as the Actor's Studio claimed he had the potential to be the next Brando but he self destructed. One of my top ten of all time.

But all I'm saying is check out more of Ray's work. Like Mickey, to a lesser extent because it wasn't out of bad behavior, Ray's got some great under the radar work.

And keep in mind to create such an iconic role, it requires more than a great script. It requires a marriage between a great script, a great actor, and a great director.

Don't underestimate the guy's acting chops. Otherwise hit mute and pray Jennifer Lopez wears something more revealing than a pant suit.

i'll go back and revist some liotta's movies then. but i just remember never bein' impressed, but it's always cool to go back and revisit

yeah man, i'm a big fan of rourke. bruh had the potential to be the next brando but we know how that all played out with his antics and shyt

oh i know it requires the actor to actually have some talent; the actor can't just be a prop figure, so i can't sit here and front like he ain't got no actin' chops

all i was sayin' was he never struck me as a great actor but i'll go back and revisit some of his old movies

Do so.

Just keep in mind it has to compare to HIS interpretation of Henry Hill. The studio didn't want him casted because he was an unknown. Marty and Deniro fought for him. Once the studio heard that they could bank on Deniro's star power as Jimmy, they agreed to cast Ray.

You got to keep in mind, in reality, a lot of these great actors can't escape the iconic roles they played.

That's why some actors are better than others at avoiding being type-casted.

Deniro, even though he can't escape his gestures, has played everything from a psychotic cab driver to an Irish gangster to a CIA father-in-law to a young Vito Corleone to a gay guy to a working class Bronx father to the Devil to a boxer to a Jewish Casino owner to a cop to a Polish Vietnam vet to a gambling addict working class dad to apparently, an intern.

In no order whatsoever because I went all over the place on his resume. I missed a lot of his roles as well. My point was the fact that Deniro has always taken an effort to distance himself from his more iconic roles.

Not every actor is that savy, or more importantly has a good agent to help them direct their career.

yeah, i hear what you sayin' but i wouldn't dare put ray liotta in the same class as deniro
deniro has been blessed to get great roles but deniro has also delivered in those roles that were great too, which is why the worked
does he have shytty movies too? sure, every actor does. no actor goes without makin' shytty movies
but i have to say that deniro has quite the resume. he got films like mean streets, once upon a time in america, raging bull, casino, goodfellas, taxi driver, the godfather, meet the fockers, analyze this, the deer hunter, silver linings playbook and more recently the intern
liotta ain't got the same chops that deniro got. if he did, he'd had more movies to show for it
a great actor (cast) + a great script/screenplay + director makes way for a great film all the way around though. many things have to work for a great film
but i'mma go back and revisit some of this movies post goodfellas, it's been a minute since i've watched a movie that had liotta in it

That was kind of my point.

Deniro's talent, connection with Marty, and early roles made other people eager to work with him.

By no means am I comparing Ray to a top tier actor like Deniro.

I'm just saying you're underestimating or underating Ray.

But keep in mind both fought for him to play Henry Hill. That was his iconic role.

Deniro has a plethora of iconic roles because he, despite signature gestures, has proved to be a versatile great.

That doesn't make Ray a poor actor.

There's no competition between the two, but he was personally chosen by Marty and Deniro. That says something.

I'm not saying they're in the same tier by any means. That would be ridiculous.
