So Flash without his earpiece = as good as dead?

Show is good, but what's up with this dude catching L's every single episode? It seems like every other time you see him he's getting immobilized, beat down, or writhing in agony. And then the crew on the other end has to bring him back from within seconds of getting killed.
"Listen to me Barry! You have to blah blah blah blah" a......It's like 60's Batman and Robin getting kidnapped and set in death traps every time they fight a bad guy level of superhero weakery

I've gotten used to it, but yeah, at first I was like "this dude would be dead if he didn't have smarter people in his ear". It's a crutch that they hopefully will move away from once the Reverse Flash drops the Wells persona. He needs to start being a hero on his own.

still havent watched it yet but it sounds like they are using the smallville formula with the villains and him getting beat up.

For season one, yes. But it makes better sense than suddenly having these powers and know exactly how to use them. Before all of that, Barry was a clumsy forensic science nerd. There's no realistic way for him to make it on his own as the Flash without being coached. Keep in MIND that it was Dr. Wells INTENT to get him trained and master all of his abilities anyway. So, the complaints of why the earpiece, why the villains of the week... they ALL serve a bigger purpose for those who haven't YET caught up in the show.

I don't see the problem...I mean in the show dude JUST became the Flash less than a year ago. He's still getting used to his powers.

It's not comic Barry whose been the Flash for 10+ years.
