not mean as much as anymore.

before it was like, we were deprived of Bret being on WWE TV forever. then he did the HOF, but he still did not get in front of a live WWE crowd.

now that he has, does this take away from the screwjob?

before it was pure hatred toward vince and company, now you don't get that feeling anymore.

plus, this seems to have hurt Bret more legacy wise, sure he probably made good $$$, but this ain't our bret anymore.

I'm still not 100% convinced it was real, to be honest

I'm like 95% sure it was, but the other 5% is like "Man....this is wrestling :childplease:.....everything outside of injuries and death is scripted"

I was a big Bret Hart fan growing up but the older I got and more documentaries I watch I thought to myself "shyt the nikka was asking for too much for dude on his way out of the company to join the rivals company." Wrestlemania 26 made it even more irrelevant

Still means a lot in the sense that (ironically) things started turning around. The Mr. McMahon character wouldn't have been as vilified and it cleared the path for Austin to be the top guy in the company.

How? All he wanted was to keep his dignity. They agreed to a DQ finish and have him forfeit the belt the following night It was them that flipped the script on him and it was HBK that was making it complicated

I think Vince did the right thing, you cant take the chance of Bret pulling an Alandra Blaze and throwing the WWF title in the garbage on Nitro.

It seems like the Canadian fans were over it last time Hickenbottom was in Montreal.

It's been almost 15 years now. I hope people are over it now since Bret's over it for a good ten years now. :manny:

That was only agreed to after Bret balked on losing the title to Michaels, even though he was leaving, because he didn't like Michaels and was a "hero" in Canada. It ain't like all was good and then they just flipped on him outta nowhere.

I look at it like this... if you're leaving Burger King, you don't get to tell the manager who replaces you. If you're leaving a relationship, you don't get to tell her who's gonna be her next boyfriend. So... Bret was leaving WWF, why should he get to dictate who wins the belt from him?

I get that he despised Michaels and all that... but if you're leaving, who gives a shyt? As said by Bad News, Bret knew how the game goes- people on the way out had to do the job for Bret and his fam at Stampede... so to think he wasn't gonna have to job on the way out of WWF is like :what:

This is wrestling not burger king or a relationship the champ always got some input, it's part of why the belt actually meant something... i.e. hogan/Yokozuna/Bret or damn near every champion before that always had a say

Even if u work at burger king u still dictate how much longer u wanna work before u go to the other job. You don't say 'hey I'm givin notice' n get wedgied on the way out when ur the employee of the month

Bret agreed to job, just to anybody else. Why couldnt vince do something similar to what happened with hogan/Yokozuna/Bret or just have HBK win it from whoever else the next week?
