I don't have faith in people. JJ has mostly done good work but he does have a particular style that is present in all of his films so if the other members of the creative team can keep that in check then I think it will be decent. Lucas wrote himself into a corner with the originals so he had a lot of boxes to check in the prequels. This bogged the films down and it became a love story. Lucas' weak dialogue was made more apparent because of this and the films suffered. In contrast, these are supposed to be new stories with some familiar characters and some brand new ones as well. I think Abrams task is easier but still daunting. How do you capture the Star Wars feel without rehashing the originals? Good question. If Disney understands what defines SW then it will be at least decent.

Abrams has a good track record as well.
that's not fair to say...the reason being for the most part George delivered with the prequels (excluding jar jar)....the thing was George had very little freeway in what story he could tell....he had to tell the story to get to the point everyone knew....where as jj is getting to tell whatever story he wants for the most part built off the point everyone knows...
as for can he deliver: if he gives us George level effects and continues the saga with a good story, yea...I mean, it's star wars, it's hard to fukk it up...

but i though alot of the star wars nerds turned on George after the prequels though...
George delivered on those prequels, at least when it came to "Revenge of the Sith".no, they didn't...they were just pissed the movies didn't top the original 3, but it's kinda hard to do that when you already know the end game...if the prequels were first, people would appreciate them more....
but wasn't the problem with the prequels that George got rid of all his co-workers from the original trilogy and surrounded himself with "yes men" that wouldn't challenge him on certain issues with the films

We have seen this blue print before,jj following in the footsteps of a legendary director, plot details (and or character) shreweded in secrecy and we got super 8. Will he fuk up star wars? Who knows but was star trek sequel any good? I don't think so. So this good track record stuff is mystifying

He made Star Trek interesting to non star trek fans so I have a little bit of faith in him.
If it wasnt for those fukking lens flares i'd give it a 10!!! 
I'm sure he'll do a good job. Agree with the above comments, George had a next to impossible task with the prequels; Abrams is free to do pretty much what he wants.
