Hell naw, maybe in the 90s

Mike Gundy is interviewing with them....Tennessee is not going to compete against South Carolina, Georgia, Bama, LSU, Florida and now A&M

Gundy better stay at Ok state where he only has to worry about Ok and Texas

I doubt this is anything more than a money ploy. He probably telling T. Boone Pickens to run his pockets.

All it takes is a top coaching staff and Tennessee will be right back up there with the rest of the SEC. Why cant Tennessee compete with those schools? I can see not being able to get the type of talent Bama and LSU consistently get, but Florida, SC, A&M, and UGA? Really? With a competent staff you don't think they can compete?

shyt they've struggled recently, but you can't tell me that ain't one of the best 10 -15 jobs in the country.

They don't have the recruiting base to be a consistent national power. Their best years were when the UGAs and the South Carolinas of the world were average to bad. That talent stays in state now, making it that much harder for Tennessee to recruit. Doesn't help they had some crazy obsession with Gruden.

This. The major metropolitan area, Memphis, is closer to Arkansas and Mississippi than Knoxville, and you have cats there that may have more of an allegiance to those schools. Not to mention Alabama wanting to take in-state talent as well. It's not a recruiting hotbed like Florida or California or Texas. When Tennessee was popping, Fulmer regularly went into California and got talent. Now that they stink, it's harder to get that talent. You look at them with the facilities and the 100,000 seat stadium and think "top job", but there's a lot of stuff beneath the surface that an incoming coach may not want to deal with. That's why I don't think Mike Gundy's name is anymore than him looking at T. Boone Pickens like :youngsabo: "you know the deal, run them pockets, old nikka"

Lol at Tennessee not being able to compete in the SEC. Dooley was just in over his head and was a last minute choice due to how late Kiffin left. Kiffin left that team in the gutter.

Funny how they can't compete with South Carolina when they have only won one SEC EAST title. Texas A&M had a great win over Bama this year but what else? Don't crown them until they've accomplished something.

Of course the ATL
Tennessee is a GREAT job & has always recruited well on a national level. The right staff has them at 8 wins & a bowl game starting next season. Great fanbase, great facilities, top conference, good tradition...it's a top 15 job

TN money is waaayy longer than OK state, and recruiting isn't a issue. Although there is a lot of competition in the Southeast.

Tennessee has a great football atmosphere. Honestly I think all the schools in the SEC can compete excluding Kentucky

While u might be right Dooley had a few huge recruting classes he just cant coach so maybe they wont get to where they were at their height but Dooley showed u still can get big time recruits there and they still can be relevant nationally if u get the right coach

The N.O
Vanderbilt can compete over Kentucky?

bruh you'd be surprised how many kids want to go to vandy i'm in the nashville area and they talk about going there instead of ut now and its black and white kids

bottom line ut needs a big name coach to get their respect back and some patience its not going to happen in 2 yrs
