all the supernatural elements, movie was :wow::whoo: :hamster: before the reveal and subsequent barrage of creepy children doing creepy things.

Movie didn't need any of that at all. It should have been kept down to finding out who the killer was, who should have just been a mysterious person with a creepy looking mask instead of a demon :camby:. Movie was far more scarier when you thought that, they even implied that scenario during the film. It even felt "real" in a sense.

Those home videos/snuff films :wtf:, creepy as fukk, the music that played with them :banderas:, there was just so much dread, the transition from the families being happy to them being tied up and on the brink of death was unnerving and disturbing. Just being unknowingly watched like that goddamn:damn:.

Had potential to be a classic but was ruined by the generic second half :shaq2: a damn shame.

The build up made it a great film but the second that little ghost boy popped up on screen I literally was like :beli:. Movie was :camby: after it didnt focus on the home movies anymore.

I agree with the thread but I gotta applaud the movie for trying to create a new horror villain. The game needs a new Freddy or Jason....I don't mean them, I mean something like them, an icon....and it hasn't had that in a long, long time. The last attempt was Jigsaw but the "Saw" movies are terrible.

Another thing the genre has been missing the last 15 or so years is memorable themes. If I play "A Nightmare on Elm Street","The Omen","Halloween", or hell even "Phantasm" everybody knows what it is.
