All Star
It was announced during E3 that formerly Xbox exclusive shoot-em-up Sine Mora would be making the jump to the PlayStation Vita. Now Vita’s big brother, the PlayStation 3, can stop sulking around the house, as Digital Reality and Grasshopper Manufacture have announced their bullet-hell wonderland will also be coming to the PlayStation Network.
It’s not often that a shmup receives the type of all-star treatment Sine Mora received. Digital Reality and Grasshopper are both big names in the industry, as is the game’s composer, Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill), and set piece/boss battle designer, Mahiro Maeda (Animatrix, Kill Bill). In fact, I’m not sure any other shmup has that kind of pedigree backing it.
“After having an extremely successful launch on Xbox LIVE Arcade and revealing the Vita version at E3 to much praise, we’re excited as ever to bring the experience to yet another platform,” said Balázs Horváth, director of publishing at Digital Reality. “More important than anything, we created something we love, and we know Sine Mora will be loved yet again on PlayStation 3.”
A mix of old and new, Sine Mora offers classic fly and shoot gameplay with a few modern twists (including a really cool time-bending element) and big-budget production value. Offering more than 60 combinations of planes, characters and time manipulation devices, as well as a scalable difficulty level, Sine Mora offers loads of content wrapped in a digital package.
No release date has been announced, though they could probably use the place holder “not soon enough.” I’m beyond excited to finally be getting my hands on this game. For more information, visit the official website.
