Ive read too many sci fi books where primordial viruses get released from the permafrost in Siberia because of global warming

:lupe:

I doubt we'll be fortunate enough for quick death.

:francis: We really fukked aren’t we

I think so man...

I only learned yesterday the reason we've had all these red moons is because of the wild fires out west and that blew my mind.

City has been covered in smoke for days and it stretches all the way up towards Albany. Temperature all over the place, lightning storms, and floods....

These are just the things in front of me in the last 24hrs and if I lived elsewhere I'm sure it would be a lot worse.

:wow:

The world is burning, and a handful of GOP members in Congress preventing change :martin:

The 21st Century is going to be a shytshow

Don’t forget That piece of shyt Sinema and that c*nt Manchin

That's too narrow. Even if Congress was controlled by a Democratic supermajority, they wouldn't have the political will to actually make the changes needed cause too many rich people would have to change.

We ain't gonna address climate change to the degree necessary until we get a supermajority of people in government who are literally willing to say "fukk off" to the rich and choose the interests of the public over the interests of the wealthy.

This only path way forward is to ride out the storm and try to survive until those in power are truly shook and decide to take action. Its pretty clear that those in power will not save us.

That red sun and red moon straight up made me feel spooked out. That feels Apocalyptic .

I think this happened a while ago but DM is reporting it again now

At least 28 novel viruses are discovered in 15,000-year-old ice from a Tibetan glacier that are 'unlike any that have been catalogued to date'
  • Experts from the Ohio State University analysed two ice cores collected in 2015
  • They were sampled from the Guliya ice cap on the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau
  • A novel method was used to analysed the microbes and viruses in the cores
  • The team concluded that the viruses would have live in plants and soils
  • Furthermore, the viruses showed signs of being adapted to cold conditions
Researchers in Tibet have uncovered 33 viruses — 28 of which were previously unknown to science — frozen up in glacier ice that formed up to 15,000 years ago.

The team from the Ohio State University analysed two cores of ice from the Guliya ice cap on the far western Kunlun Shan on the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau.

Employing a novel method of analysing microbes and viruses in ice samples without contaminating them, the researchers concluded the viruses lived in soil or plants.

The findings, the team said, may help scientists to better understand how viruses have evolved over the centuries.
