Should Performing Arts schools teach young black artists how to create?

Emphasis on performing arts, not just regular run of the mill high school.

Made me look up Duke Ellington.

Seems to me if you've got these kids learning visual arts, videography, etc - they should be explicitly learning hip hop from grade 9 as part of the core curriculum.

I was watching an interview with Royal Flush - 3 corny white guys.

They always had control of the genre.
It's very sad.

Honestly Soulja Boy should have been emancipation, in the sense that you could get to national/ international fame and profit using the internet. But industry, and those folks, co-opted that lane.

I don't even want to go down that road with this post

In my junior year(1999), we started a hip hop culture club and made it an extra curriculum for after school. It lasted 5 years because nikkas was smoking weed and graffiti everywhere the last time i heard of it


But yes, it should be involved with whatever art form as it is a culture of art
