What the hell? You never seen jaws? Breh it's one of the greatest movies ever made. It's one of the few movies I'd consider to be perfect. Yes you need to watch it. You should never let age stop you from seeing a movie especially classic ones.
I understand the "I hate old movies" thing to a degree but it's something I've never subscribed to. Casablanca and the Maltese falcon are two of my all time favorites and two of the greatest movies ever made. Hell my favorite movie ever, the godfather, is also old. I can't imagine being a film geek and not seeing those movies
