It's spoken in most tourist areas around the world. The most prosperous nations in history speak it. More people worldwide probably speak hindi, spanish and mandarin, however they are localized within their respective regions and don't have the simplicity of the English system.

Should it be mandatory that English be taught first, and native languages second?

What are your thoughts?

Don't say that to the French in Quebec.

Its a shady subject, but I understand what OP is getting at (unless you're just trolling:stopitslime:). Language unifies people, and on a global scale, it might help in the long-run if everybody can effectively communicate. A lot of stuff gets lost in translation and misunderstandings occur. If everybody would learn 3-4 languages, I think the world would be better off.

It's been happening for the last 30 years.

English is the new Esperanto and works in that role, the internet is only speeding this process up
