El Rey Network, the cable channel founded by filmmaker Robert Rodrigues, has announced that have made a deal with Celestial Pictures to air 255 Shaw Brothers titles on the network.
The deal was made on July 28 in a press release. Beginning on October 1, El Rey Network will begin its multi-year partnership with Celestial Pictures, the Hong Kong-based distribution house who owns the current rights to the original Shaw Brothers library. Titles to be aired on the El Rey Network will include FIVE DEADLY VENOMS, MAD MONKEY KUNG FU, and THE BRAVE ARCHER along with its sequels.
Robert Rodriguez had this to say about the recent partnership:
“These iconic films have really resonated with our viewers and we are excited to be the American home of this incredible library. As a kid, I found this kind of content wildly entertaining and these dazzling, kinetic and epic spectacles are still a great inspiration in the work I do to this day.”
If you do not have the El Rey Network, call your cable provider in hopes to get this network and come October, see select titles from the original Shaw Brothers library.
