For those who don't want to read the articles, Shane Black says that originally the script called for a female villain but Disney said female villain toys wouldn't be marketable so Shane Black had to go and re-write the entire script. He said because of the backlash to how Mandarin was treated, Marvel made the one-shot 'All Hail the King' as an apology to their fans and in that it reveals of course that there is a 'real' Mandarin out there.
