Havent watched this in a few years but def. a great film . I think parts were expectedly b*stardized but lets be real you cant always get it 100% right with history films

Of Course there were MANY other Great tribes, but still for the ones that did get a film, this is the best FILM

The topic is on the actual film, more so than whether or not we like the Zulu History. My Grandfather was a chief, and my Great Grandfather via Marriage built the town my father is from, so I can look at my own family history for inspiration.

Because European contact with Africa started inauspiciously , at least to Africans then, until it later turned into something else. The Portuguese for instance made initial contact with Africans for more than a 100 years before colonization formally began. It began with trade, then "explorers" like Henry Morton Stanely, then the missionaries followed by trading companies which began colonizing. From what i have read of the Congolese experience,and Southern Africa it was like that. In addition to that most groups were loosely connected, the Zulu were a small tribe compared to the Ndwandwe and Mthethwa and it was war that created a huge unified entity of the Zulu. If that consolidation did not happen they would have been a small marginal group that would have been subsumed by other groups. The series created this blood thirsty narrative about him without emphasizing the Nguni nation building strategy, the Xhosa,Ndebele,Shangan among others were built in a similar manner.Shakka should have slaughtered the Europeans on site, damn why are we such a righteous people.
