This is a serious question. You don't have to admit whether or not this has happened to you, but whether or not you believe it's true would be helpful. I am looking to get into the biking world. It's been years since I even rode a bicycle, but I have a lot of free time and I would like to do it so...why not?

I read somewhere that doing too much bike riding will leave a man impotent or infertile. What is your take on this? This was double down in my beliefs when I found out that Lance Armstrong had testicular cancer.

I also read recently that this situation may be remedied depending on the kind of bike seat that a person gets. What would you guys recommend is the best kind of bike seat to avoid this?

The Opposite Of Elliott Wilson's Mohawk
Been biking for years, 1 beautiful smart baby girl here, another one hopefully on the way, same nut volume and density :yeshrug:

Truthfully unless you're riding like 8+ hours a week I don't think you need to worry

Make sure you get some padded shorts. Even if you wear them under shorts it will make riding more comfortable

Thank you for your honest answer. I guess some padded shorts would probably end up being cheaper than fancy seats. I've never heard of padded shorts in my life though. Would you have a recommendation?

Also, 8 hours a week is probably not that much if you consider somebody going to and from work on a bike. Fortunately it hasn't affected you.

No it wont. They do just the opposite.

.

Do not, I repeat, absolutely do not get padded shorts or a padded seat.

Seats are economically designed to cradle you.
Assuming you ride in something light, spandex, basketball shorts, running shorts, gym pants, sweat pants, yoga pants...You won't compromise the stability and have pressure where there shouldnt be pressure or any other restrictions.

It might hurt for 2-3 rides but your body has to get used to doing something it's not used to. Once you get past that it's easy.

Also you don't have to worry about impotence or sterilization or anything like that. No offense but you won't ride even a quarter of what is needed to even be considered medium low risk.

I rode 2300 miles in 4 months and got laughed at by real cyclists and a doctor.

Appreciate your reply as well. I will have to do more research.

I wasn't really concerned with the comfort of the ride (as crazy as that sounds). I am mostly concerned with preventing the impotence/sterilization thing.
