Serious Answers: If the mexican border was closed, would it be a good thing?

Would it be a good thing or would it not make a difference. Im talking properly closed too like no one passing through the motherfukker type stuff.

It really wouldn't make much of a difference, these drug gangs have used catapults, tunnels and submarines to get drugs into the US. The price would go up and the amount of drugs making it into the country would go down, violence in the US would probably go up as a result of limited product, but in the end the flow won't stop.

I actually think it would make things worse to be honest.

It would definitely make a difference, good and bad. It would decrease immigrant crime rates, the amount of people in the prison system, and it would be a relief on welfare. It would open more jobs, even under the table construction, factory jobs. And the money spent on the worthless border patrol men would be used elsewhere.

It would mess up trade though, other countries would hate us.

It might decrease immigrant crime rates, but violence in the US would approach the crack era levels and probably end up being worse. You limit the stream of drugs coming into the country and some gangs that sell it right now will find themselves without any inventory to sell. If a gang 3 blocks away has drugs readily available, they become targets for those that don't have it. With a limited product, you'd have to raise the price and doing so would make baseheads become even more desperate than they are now. You better believe random violence like muggings or botched robberies turning into murders would go up.

Closing the border would do a lot of harm if you really start to think about it, the only real way they can get this problem under any type of control is to legalize drugs.

Really, though, why do these, admittedly, brutal and ugly crimes, hangings, mass graves, beheadings, skinnings, whatever, provoke this response? Would you feel safer, if the border was closed? It's kind of a shortsighted, immature, emotional response, illogical response, 'CLOSE THE BORDERS'...why? What difference would it make? Why would you be safer with them closed? Sicarios and organized crime members aren't plotting on making it to the US to dismember us, it's a by product of the Mexican government, society, and US/world drug laws. This isn't a bloodthirsty, evil, country, it's one where because of many, many factors, a lot of blood and evil exists. It's like Canada saying this in response to the Aurorua shootings.

As far as drugs, look, in San Diego this morning, they caught 2,000 pounds of weed coming in by boat, last week, 2,500, 2 weeks before 3,500. This isn't going to stop.

Nah, they make too much money off the prison industrial complex they've set up, closing the border drops the petty bullshyt drug related charges they hand out to black folks. They won't legalize the drugs for that same reason as well, the war on drugs will probably go on for another 30 years.

I doubt anyone cares about gangs killing each other, and to make revenue I'm sure they'd find any way to get drugs here. You don't think people here would learn how to produce different types of drugs?

And South Americans would jump at the chance to push that coca plant here. Drugs would probably be legalized to lower the crime rate.

They might learn how to produce drugs differently, but you can't make up for this kind of shyt -

300 acre marijuana farm in Mexico, and that's just 1 they know of. Then you factor in all the drugs being produced in Colombia and it's impossible to make up for that kind of production here.
