I actually have been involved in the national Juneteenth recognition movement for several years. I hate to say this to people, but the last time a major democratic senator
on their own tried to make Juneteenth a recognized day was Barack Obama back in 2005. He was actually joined by not only Democratic senators Harry Reid and Carl Levin as sponsors but also Republicans Bill Frist and Sam Brownback (yes, Brownback).

Since then, besides Sheila Jackson of TX in the House, there hasn't been much movement by the Dems on this. The main person who was spearheading this campaign would tell us that he was actually getting more receptive audiences from Republican senators (he talked personally to Rand Paul and John Cornyn as well as Roger Wicker) than Democrats.
Besides Sheila Jackson's bills in the House, the bills for Juneteenth in the current and previous Congress were both by the GOP from Texas and Mississippi reps. Texas Senator John Cornyn and congressman Randy Weber as well as Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker, all GOP, have introduced Juneteenth bills every session almost since 2015. Granted Harris and Booker were co-sponsors of
last year's bill but we targeted both parties and GOP from Texas seemed more motivated to initiate the bills with everyone co-sponsoring
