Seeing an idea you had for a book/story/script become a movie

If you have an idea, put it forward breh....don't wait on it

I write sci-fi/fantasy/YA and I've been working on my first book for 2 years. Now I have about 20 different ideas that I wanted to do next. I wrote out maybe 2-5 pages on each concept to flush them out and stored them in Word. So one of the other ideas I was infatuated with...I just saw on TV....as a trailer for a movie



I legit had the same story breh

I read a couple articles on Ray Kurzweil, started thinking about Transhumanism and Mind-Uploading, and thought about the elite wanting to live forever. The only difference in my book was it was a teenage girl instead of a man, and a rich female who wanted another chance at youth instead of a rich man because I wanted to sell it to the tweens. Same conflict about the billionaire being erased forever when the original person's memories came back. Same shady ass corporation behind the scenes. People getting kidnapped. I have to throw this shyt away now because it'll look like I copied. I'm upset

wrote a story for halloween in 7th grade... about a man who kidnaps you, then makes you do some horrific shyt or die... like pull out your fingernails and you can leave, or stay in this room and die


they sent that paper to the fukking counselor... like i had mental issues... what the fukk man, they said write a scary story


years later out comes Saw... I could have been rich... fukk them teachers

Rachel Dolezal.

I was walking around for years with an idea for a mockumentary comedy sketch about 'transracials', white people who on the inside believe they are black. It would be like an exaggeration of the 'wigger' which would mock a lot of the double (and weird) standards that people use for transsexual acceptance and shyt. I still can't believe reality caught up to that shyt before I managed to make it happen.

Side-note: I don't know if it was used before that but Spawn was the first movie I saw with a villain who had a bomb attached to his heart so if you'd kill him the bomb goes off, and lil' me was pissed as hell because that was my idea.

Inception too btw. I read that Donald Duck story years back, thought it would make a great movie but Nolan managed to steal it and take the credit first.

i never had to see anybody or anything.. the teacher was just a dikk

obviously i wasn't too crazy being that someone is sipping drinks in malibu right now off the same idea

My rule is if you have an idea, there's usually at least one other person who has either had or has the same idea.

Ideas aren't original, execution is all that matters. Since everyone builds upon the knowledge that they've gathered then people are bound to end up at the same conclusion but just end up taking different paths to get there. And people can respond to one more than the other.

Like scientists before the advent of the internet and worldwide data-sharing working on the same things independently in different parts of the world without knowing of each other. That kind of shyt makes you wonder about all the progress that could've been abound had they known of each other.

I guess my point being if you see someone with an idea you had that came out before you you should still put it out there. Maybe people will respond to yours more. Maybe your work will be informed by the other persons. Maybe someone will be informed by yours.

That's why u gotta write ideas everyday b. Become an idea machine according to James Altucher and his wife. If u could think of that great idea, I'm sure one of your other ideas is just as good!

But like someone said above, it's about the execution.

I more or less had a similar idea to that flick boyhood...filming from birth till they're a teen/adult

Haven't even seen the film yet...but was surprised they actually did it.

I thought had a really good one when I was into writing way back in my early years of high school. Titled it Clandestine and went into some kind of writers block that made me sit on the idea for years.

Yea, at this point in life, I feel as though for every idea I have for something that I want to make, someone else with money has the same. It's disheartening when that type of shyt happens, but you can't let it stop you. Just roll through with yours.
