Seann William Scott will be hitting the ice one more time.
During a Reddit AMA, the Goon star said a sequel to the small but well-received hockey film is scheduled to begin filming in the next few months.
“I did a bit of fight training for Goon. For Goon 2, I’ve been fight-training for the past month, and next month in May I start working with an MMA fighter, and then some skating (obviously, a lot of skating),” Scott wrote. “We start shooting Goon 2 in mid-June, and if everybody does their jobs and we execute the amazing script that Jay [Baruchel] and his co-writer wrote, the f*****g movie would be wicked.”
Scott starred as Doug Glatt, a bouncer who is hired by a minor-league hockey team as an enforcer after he beats up a player at a game. The original Goon premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2011, and while it didn’t make a huge impact on the box office—grossing only $6 million worldwide—it gained a following of critics and viewers, particularly after it debuted on streaming services like Netflix.
The actor’s comments line up with years-old reports that Baruchel, who wrote the first film, would be returning for the sequel’s script. There is no release date about Goon 2, and little other information about what the movie will entail, other than, presumably from Scott’s comments, plenty more fighting.
A representative for No Trace Camping did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the film.
