Why? What did they change?

"The game has had four major expansions in the past year with the latest, Shrouded Spoils, making PvE world events more frequent and updating some aspect of PvP. It’s the perfect streaming game because its four player squads and wacky, unpredictable action between PvP and PvE play makes for hilarious, entertaining moments by its very nature."

just like what Meach said from time.

Has nothing to do with this...

has 100% to do with Summit1g, one of twitchs biggest streamers but was falling behind Ninja and Shroud (who he once was bigger than) during the Fortnite/PUBG era. He used to average 20-25k viewers but couldnt find his niche in the battle royal genre so he bounced from game to game while losing his usual viewership

he just picked up Sea oF thieves again the past 1-2 months and because it was different viewing experience from an established big streamer people flocked to it .. he used to average 12-15k viewers during this down spiral.. now he averages 50-70k viewers and now other popular streamers (TimTheTatMan and DrDisrespect) are playing the game more actively

Lightning in a bottle pretty much... went from 14k subs to 45k subs in a month :wow:

this is why game companies pay people like Summit, Shroud and Ninja $5-10,000 for 2 hours of game play on twitch if their viewership is around 10-20+k viewers because if even a fraction of those people watching buy the game theyll recoup the money in seconds..

hes streaming right now... he just turned on his stream like a hour ago.. already 40k viewers :wow:

all that was said in the article. Just assuming the dude asked what changed with the game. It's becoming what Meach said it would be down the line. they plan to add some next mode that should spice things up even more, so it should maintain this momentum in the streaming light until like the article said, Anthem, or maybe crackdown drops.
