With WrestleMania XXIX set to take place on Sunday, the WWE decided to do things a bit differently this week when it came to SmackDown. Rather than taping it on Tuesday, SmackDown was actually taped prior to Raw on Monday night in Washington, D.C.

Since there wasn't enough time to tape an entire episode of SmackDown prior to Raw, the WWE simply staged two matches and and a few promos. The rest of the show will be taped throughout the week at WrestleMania Axxess and a handful of Axxess matches will be shown on SmackDown.

Instead of going all out on the go-home edition of SmackDown, the WWE wanted to use Raw as the true lead-in to WrestleMania. Even so, a few key players were able to pick up some momentum on the blue brand this week ahead of 'Mania, and the addition of Axxess footage makes the show one that fans won't want to miss.

Here are all the biggest spoilers for the April 5 edition of SmackDown, which
will air just two days before the biggest event in wrestling.

:flabbynsick:

In a throwback to last summer, Ryback took on and defeated two men at once on SmackDown as he dispatched of Primo and Epico. Ryback used to do that regularly against local enhancement talent when the WWE was trying to build him up, but he had gotten away from that in recent weeks. Ryback did beat 3MB on Raw last week, though, so it's clear that the writers are trying to make the Big Hungry look strong ahead of 'Mania. After the match Mark Henry came out to the ring smiling and got into Ryback's face and said he's going to pay for what he did Monday. Ryback says you can't touch this. Henry just smiles as Mason Ryan :crazyobama: attacks Ryback from the crowd and absolutely brutalizes him. He delivers several chair shots to Ryback on the outside and Henry tosses the steel steps onto Ryback and it was ruled okay because Henry himself didn't have contact with him. Good segment. But Mason Ryan though?

A taped promo featuring CM Punk is shown on the TitanTron. He says he heard Bearer's real family is upset by his actions on Monday. He claims he's didn't disrespect anyone. In fact he is playing homage by showing that Bearer is the true power of the Undertaker and if they can't see his master plan and want to be extra bytchy and sensitive that's their problem. This is bigger than them, this is Punk's legacy and he will do whatever it takes to beat the Undertaker and he doesn't care who he pisses off to do it. The ends justify the means :demonic: :real:

In an effort to add a bit of comedic relief between SmackDown matches, Team Rhodes Scholars and the Bella Twins cut a promo on their WrestleMania XXIX opponents, Tons of Funk and the Funkadactyls. According to the spoiler report, they dressed up like their adversaries and proceeded to mock them until Brodus Clay, Sweet T, Cameron and Naomi exacted some revenge. Naomi was especially vicious ramming Nikki Bella into the announce table and barricade with such force that Brodus had to pull her off but Sweet T saw nothing wrong with it. Minor argument ensued but nothing major.

Backstage interview with a warm and charming Ezekiel Jackson with Heidenreich and Snitsky. He says "the family" will have a front row seat to watch HHH get destroyed by Brock Lesnar. He says HHH's children look at him as a failure and has been, weak. "Uncle Brock" is who they want to emulate. HBK randomly attacks Jackson but he is dispatched easily by Heidenreich and Snitsky who tells him he's frail, washed up and balding and he needs to let it go because he's pathetic. Heidenreich throws Michaels into the catering table and they make their exit.

In Booker's office he questions Teddy Long on why he allowed Big Johnny on Smackdown last week. Long says he can make decisions as well but Booker says he's the last word on everything and angrily orders Long out of his office. In the hallway Big Johnny has been listening and tells Long it's time to put aside their differences and collaborate. Long agrees. :devious:

Swagger defeated Kofi Kingston in a quick match that saw Kofi pretty much just lie down for Swagger and says this is what the Obama and welfare supporters need to do. Lie down and let the superior Americans lead you to prosperity. He says he's proud to be a part of Jack Swagger's America. Swagger compliments him on how well spoken and articulate Kingston is. Alberto Del Rio comes out on the stage and says Kingston is a disgrace but no one really cares. Del Rio is a horrible face. Zeb Coulter attacks from behind and says he's going to beat Del Rio like he just crossed the border illegally. Ricardo tries to intervene but Colter throws him off the stage into the electrical equipment. Swagger tells Kingston to "get out there and help BOY" and Kingston runs to the stage puts the boots to Del Rio while Coulter tells him he's one of the "good ones"

Fandango is shown in a luxury suite being fed grapes by Curt Hawkins and Yoshi Tatsu. He smiles demonically as he watches the proceedings on the screen. :merchant:
