I'm not expecting a realistic solution but it breaks my heart that every time I play Final Fantasy IX or Sonic 3 on the Genesis Collection on my HD TV I see a bunch of crude pixels that crudely resemble my old favorites from back in the day. Is there anyway to get the picture display to look a little clearer with 16 and 32 bit era games or are all non HD games just going to look like that on a newer screen? I've tried toggling the HD display to 420 but it's still grainy. Would using the AV cables that come with the consoles remedy this?

I'm not a 'tech' guy so forgive me if I stumbled on some of the specific technical language.

If you're on ps3 it's really bad with ps1 games. Turning smoothin on makes it less jagged but makes reading really hard if u turn smoothing off it'll make text better to read but it'll be more pixelated than it should be(this is for ps3 btw). I dont have problems with my xbox playing older games since most were hd anyway, but if u mean xbla games try playing in 4:3 format so u dont stretch the pixels, same with old psn games, it's still gonna be terrible looking but thats the best you'll get for now. Usually what I do if I'm playing off a disc, on my ps3, if it's a non hd game or formatted for hd I hafta just bite the bullet and switch my av settings on my ps3 to 4:3. That's the only way it'll look halfway decent. hope that helps some.

go to a consignment store and buy an old picture tube tv maybe? all those old games look wonderful on a Playstation Vita too.
