Also because of stuff like war, poorer dental practices, diseases like polio, measles, etc., and the last reason that a lot of people never think about is that there was poorer sanitation in bygone days. Improved sanitation like cleaner water and better waste management techniques has greatly extended lives.The AVERAGE was lower mostly because infant deaths were a lot more common.
